How to check your tyre tread
Inbuilt tyre wear indicators, also known as Tread Wear Indicators (TWIs), are small, raised bars moulded into the grooves of your tyre’s tread. They sit slightly lower than the tread when the tyre is new, but as the rubber wears down, these bars become more visible. When the tread surface becomes level with the indicators, it means the tyre has reached the legal minimum tread depth of 1.6mm and should be replaced immediately.
